Comic 957: Preoperational Stage of Humor

[Blah blah Ravenzomg guest post and etc -Ed.]

Hello masses, this is Ravenzomg of Ravenzomg fame here to review the latest XKCD for you all before the latest one comes out! So, as usual, this thread will get to be filled with comments on the NEXT comic, and everyone can act confused/stupid! Hurray.

The excitement is palpable, people.

Title: Development. Tooltip: Funding was quickly restored to the NHC and the APA was taken back off hurricane duty.

HEY GUYS, DID YOU KNOW THAT A HURRICANE WENT THROUGH MASSACHUSETTS, HOME OF OUR GREAT AND GLORIOUS MAN-GOD RANDALL, JUST LAST WEEK?

Wait. No, that was back in August.

GOOMH, Randall, I've been watching Hurricanes for the past month, too!

Now, as Wikipedia will tell you, sterile void-creatures in sterile void-rooms do not allow us the sterile void-sympathy needed to sterile void-enjoy 'random' 'humour'.

  2. sorry fellows, I moved this post BACK IN TIME to draw greater attention to my OWN posts. Because, I am like that. I hope you understand.

  3. Man, the latest comic was lame as usual, but the alt text made me laugh pretty hard.

  4. Rob does it better.

    ReplyDelete
  5. !:21 means Rob sucks cock better.

    Raven writes better reviews.

    ReplyDelete
  6. now that's how you write a review. take note, rob

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yeah, Rob, I bet you wish it was you who had written the review instead of this different person.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I don't even understand. If he's manually changing the reviews when he visits a place he doesn't like, what's the point of a script? Does he like such a high proportion of places that he must have low enough standards to not really give a crap about where he actually stays?

Could it be that the word "script" was only slipped in there for a bit of added geek cred? Surely not.

  9. 2:54 oh no how did you steal my name

    are you an elite hacker?

  10. you are so hilarious, jon

i wish i could be like you

  11. The alt text might be amusing in some other context, but given that we already know he's supposed to be making up bad stuff to say it's just not clever at all and just seems like "lolradnom" humor.

  14. His hurricane symbol looks like an overlapping 69. Subtle, Randy. Subtle.

Captcha: flushi. That's a good hurricane name.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 7:26

That's a fairly common hurricane symbol. As far as what I see on my weather channel at least.

  18. HEY GUYS! DID YOU KNOW TYPING IN CAPS MAKES MY TEXT 10X FUNNIER WITHOUT IT ACTUALLY HAVING ANY HUMOR IN IT? DID YOU?

  20. BREAKING NEWS: Recent "project" suggests that science + romance = creepy!

A lot of you have been asking what happened with the project I did a while ago to come up with a neat date. I know I have been quiet about that, but it’s mainly because the girl in the project had been relatively out-of-touch, and I couldn’t easily talk about what was up since I hadn’t talked to her and wanted to give her some privacy. She basically started to feel uncertain about the whole thing, and I didn’t want to push her, so I called it off.

    -Randall Munroe

@Ivan, caps are for yelling and making fun of people, not for making things funny. You get points because you're trying to make fun of someone, but you lose them for insinuating that anyone here was doing anything else with caps, because that did not occur.

In my head I pronounce your name "AYE-ven", I hope that's right. Try as I might, you will never be "ee-VAHN".

  21. Good thing Raven puts title text on all her links, because we just can't get enough Raven.

Yo, dawgs, I herd you liek Raven...

    ReplyDelete
  22. I want the real Raven back. The one who ran xkcd-sucks, She and I had a thing going.

    ReplyDelete
  23. The real Raven will never return, because the grace period for appealing to arbitrary account deletion has long since passed and I still am pretty sure that I never had the information about myself they were asking for. So now you're stuck with me. Yeah, I know, I'm pretty disappointed too. =[

    captcha: missig. The n is.

  24. I am the real Raven. Accept no substitute.

  25. Except myself.

  26. ZOMG, a privately run organization took over for a publicly funded organization IN A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FIELD! I laughed, I cried...it moved me.

  27. Carl, there's a reason Rob stopped posting Raven's comics, it's cause they're ineffably shitty

    ReplyDelete
  28. JUST LIKE THIS SITE =D

    ...

    ...

But seriously, lrn2rd, Rob posted this, not Carl. Carl is just... I don't know what the hell Carl is. I don't think anyone knows.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Me again! And I'd like to share a link. http://xkcd.com/637/ In this comic, replace the pretentious asshole with Rob or Carl. Or not. It wouldn't change much.

    ReplyDelete
  30. 1002 are you saying raven is unF-able?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I'd fuck her. I'd even marry her with the hope of fucking her every night. I don't care what she looks like. She's amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  32. 4:26, you clearly don't know how sex works.

  33. Ravenzomg is a Canadian of slightly above average intelligence but low self esteem. This is practically the perfect recipe for crazy. Anon@4:26, you might as well drag your honey-coated cock through a field of bees, mines and bees with mines strapped to them.

  35. You're not offensive, you're not actually hurting anyones feelings or making them change their minds (at least anyone worthwhile) regarding XKCD, you're just horribly, painfully, tragically boring.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Just... so mind boggling uninteresting and dull. You may have some interesting and perhaps even valid defenses for this blog, but that doesn't change the fact that you actually invested even a moment of your life in writing up paragraphs upon paragraphs explaining logically why you take time out of your day to meticulously pick apart a webcomic that you dislike.

You also appear hilariously sensitive, just like a little kid with aspergers spazzing out over a minor irritation or change in environment. How on earth do you even manage to cope in the day to day world and all the stresses and unexpected annoyances that occur, when simply seeing a webcomic, a WEBCOMIC, that you dislike utilized in an article on a site you read causes you so much misery?

I feel utterly embarassed for you, and now I will be on my way, seeing as how this blog of yours randomly popped up on an unrelated google search. While I'm out tonight at Nuit Blanche, exploring the downtown of my city re-imagined with fantastic art of all sorts, perhaps I'll spend a moment thinking of you angrily and obsessively cataloguing a collection of meaningless grievances against a meaningless comic on a tiny blog in an especially sad corner of the internet.

    Good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  37. spoilers: the 'unrelated google search' was 'milky milky + maths + femdom'

    ReplyDelete
  38. randy is such a nuit blanche

    ReplyDelete
  39. Troll@2:38 put more effort into that post than the last three dozen xkcdsucks posts put together. It reminds me that people who put in effort but have no talent still fail miserably.

Also is Nuit Blanche like Kristallnacht, only with more White Knights? WHITE NIGHT? GET IT? Fucking Jews...

    ReplyDelete
  40. Looks like some French Canadian thing. Ravenzomg ought to go and take all her clothes off and write DO ME WITHOUT A CONDOM in Humor Sans on her chest and call it art.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oughtn't that be FAIS-MOI SANS PRESERVATIF? I hear it's illegal not to use at least French there. But maybe the punishment is rape, so all is as planned.

Which leads me to wonder: what sentence would a judge give you for trying to break into prison to voluntarily do time?

    ReplyDelete
  42. 3:06 i really want some of these posts to be real. i just want to live in a world where people can say stuff like "While I'm out tonight at Nuit Blanche, exploring the downtown of my city re-imagined with fantastic art of all sorts" without shame. the world's more interesting that way.

    ReplyDelete
  43. While I'm out tonight at la Rue Saint-Denis, exploring the nethers of a series of dainty girls while pumping powder up my nostrils, perhaps I'll spend a moment thinking of pretentious twats flouncing around at Nuit Blanche, trying to appear cultured while secretly wishing their lives were like mine.

    ReplyDelete
  44. i wish i could believe 2:38 was real.

"You're not offensive, you're not actually hurting anyones feelings"

    heh. tell that to SGirl.

    ReplyDelete
  45. According to another drole [in the Irish sense] Facebook "update", this Nuit Blanche thing happens in Toronto. If I'm understanding correctly,

    @Anon238: HI JEN! =D

    ReplyDelete
  46. i don't understand all the people coming here and talking trash

i think this is the best blog on the internet and i've set it to be my homepage on the browser

    Girls even more so.

    We're on the internet now.

  48. Friday's XKCD: Do people sit around and search for their friends' hotel reviews online to compare them to what the friend said about these hotels in the real world? If so, I feel like I'm missing out, since I have no friends.

  49. Are there any new shows coming out this season that you guys think might be good? The only one on my list so far is Once Upon a Time, because Jennifer Morrison's in it, and she's adorable.

  50. Fresh Meat might turn out good. On one hand the writers also wrote Peep Show but on the other Fresh Meat is rather bad...

  51. All residential undergraduate students post-Thatcher are self-obsessed, stupid, boring cunts. A comedy about them would be as interesting as a conversation with them.

  52. "Ravenzomg is a Canadian of slightly above average intelligence but low self esteem. This is practically the perfect recipe for crazy. Anon@4:26, you might as well drag your honey-coated cock through a field of bees, mines and bees with mines strapped to them."

No, no, crazy people have the best sex. Haven't you heard?

    CAPTCHA

    ReplyDelete
  53. Rob, why can't you see what this comic is about? You spend so much time trying to hate on Randall, yet you fail to see that xkcd is a comic for nerds and geeks. Average people may understand some, and some may not. It's life. Get over it.

Now, as to the essence of this comic, the Piaget scale is a psychology scale. The APA is the American Psychology Association. This comic just got much better after some clarification didn't it?

Please. You are acting like an idiot. You seem to think that every word that comes out of Randall's mouth somehow "proves" his "ignorance".

If you don't like an xkcd comic, so be it. But you don't have to look for a way to destructively criticize every comic that Randall makes. I believe more than a handful of them are quite amusing.

  54. what are you even talking about
