Comic 1129: Ring, Ring

Man, it sure has been a busy couple of weeks, what with all the reviews I've been posting! But I missed 1129, so here it is:

1129. I frequently have this problem where people I need to call for work don't answer my cell phone because of its area code. Fun fact! Anyway, the point is this is a really boring observation. F

  1. Rob would you meet up for a blowjob? How far are you willing to travel? You won't even have to say/type anything.

  2. Fucking hell Rob, do I really have to scroll past a post every time I want to read the comments? Hurry up and make a new post, you lazy piece of shit.

    2. Yes, if he'd been here longer he'd realize that Rob isn't an asshole, but in fact a gaping maw that consumes everything in its path.

  7. it is Bonfire Night here. I fucking love bonfire night, even though it's essentially the same as the so-called 'war on terror'

    1. I expected you to hate bonfire night. I'm disappointed, weaselsoup.

It is exactly the same as the War on Terror, though.

    2. why did you expect that? I love fireworks and burning things.
I also love Hallowe'en, except the imported trick or treat stuff, which is a bit shit.

    3. I would expect you to love burning things, but not to enjoy fireworks. The bangs are so brutish yet well controlled. I see you as more of a repressed arsonist.

Concur on the limits of Hallowe'en.

  15. 1130: Randall thought it would be funny to make a joke about someone who is obsessed with the election polls, but for the wrong reason. He was wrong. It's possible he knows someone who is like this, but presumably this person doesn't read XKCD so he's not afraid of insulting him (presumably none of Randall's friends read XKCD, or they would tell him how shitty it is if they were true friends). Also, the alt text makes a reference that I, as a non-American, didn't get.

1131: In case somebody hadn't noticed yet, Randall thought it necessary to remind people that there were elections in the US. He was wrong. The alt-text makes the same joke as the main comic, so it's both redundant and unnecessary.

    1. no, 1131 is randall sucking nate silver's dick because he's gay. not even a semblance of a joke here

  16. 1132: Randall has discovered that even very unlikely events can in fact occur. He then thought throwing in some statistics terminology would make his fans think he was smart. He was... probably right (read: his fans are stupid).

  17. 1132 is the most esoteric obscure monty hall/lets make a deal joke i've ever seen. I can't imagine anyone who actually gets it will think it is funny and everyone else will just think "wtf?" - this may be XKCD at its very worst. Wikipedian obscure reference =/= comedy

    1. Fancy revising your "this may be XKCD at its very worst" statement now that 1133 has been published?

  18. ...is Randall trying to say that a frequentist statistician would basic critical thinking skills? Because if there's something else to this I'm missing it.

    4. Talk about being late to the party. 8 days is an eternity in xkcdsucks time -- especially in recent times. That's because we measure time in terms of what Rob can eat. As his body expands due to the massive alimentary influx, the amount of food he has to ingurgitate in order to reach repletion gets larger, which in turn changes our perception of time.

Do you have idea any idea how long those particular 8 days felt?
